If you’re used to shaving multiple times every week, this tool will be your new bestie! It’s quick, easy, and very effective. (I’ll link my Braun model at the bottom of this post!)

Here are the reasons I made the switch:

1. Ain’t nobody got time to shave every day.

Like I said at the beginning, you’ll spend SEVENTY-TWO DAYS OF YOUR LIFE shaving your legs. No, ma’am. That is NOT okay!

2. Good razors are expensive.

If you shave regularly, how much money do you think you spend on shaving products? I calculated my cost, being the finance nerd that I am. When I used to shave all the time, I used Venus razors and Skintimate Shaving Cream. Every single year, I spent $120…on leg hair maintenance! That’s why I searched for a cheaper option.

As you’ll see, the epilator is the best affordable solution for body hair maintenance!

3. RAZORS ARE WASTEFUL.

Every razor you’ve ever used will still exist in a landfill when your grandchildren are your age. Oof…

FAQ’s of epilating

Q: Does it hurt?

A: Only as much as getting your eyebrows waxed or threaded. After a few sessions, it just tickles a bit.

However, if you’ve seen the “Men Try Epilating” YouTube video, keep in mind that (1) It was made for entertainment, and (2) There’s a reason women don’t get the man flu!

Q: Can you use it on other parts of your body?

A: Yes! I epilate my legs, arms, and facial hair. I would epilate my underarms, too, but I had those lasered before my wedding.

Q: Is the ~$130 epilator really worth it?

A: I haven’t used the cheaper ~$30 ones, but I’ve heard from other bloggers that they’re not as gentle. I bought the better quality one on Amazon and planned on returning it if it didn’t work. Six months later, I’m very happy with the Braun model I have.

Q: Any tips for newbies?

A: Yes, this will make your first-time experience easy-peasy:

1. Be sure to exfoliate! I use Lush’s coffee scrub beforehand to ensure the epilator has full contact with the hair follicle.
2. Definitely start by epilating in the shower. A big benefit of the Braun 9-series I linked is that you can use it wet, which is more gentle than using it dry (which I mostly do!).
3. Press the epilator firmly against your skin. If you’re scared it will hurt and you press softly, it DOES hurt! So press firmly, breathe out, and swipe it up & down your leg. You’ll be shocked at how silky smooth your legs are!
