Hey everyone! My name is Amber, and I have been in the beauty industry for 17 years as a cosmetologist and make-up artist. I’m also a mom of two boys, so my beauty routine has really worked itself down to what’s vital. I also wanted to pass on some advice I wish I had listened to sooner.
I recently polled some of my favorite people in the industry, and these are the TOP 5 holy grail products to keep your hair and skin looking and feeling young. It’s so important to take care of your hair and skin in your 30s, so let me recommend some products that are going to help you achieve your best, most beautiful look:
If you aren’t using moisturizer on your face…. ladies, now is the time! Moisturizer is a must have for your skin. I suggest starting it before 30, but if you haven’t yet, don’t fret. Just go grab some, and your skin will thank you later. Your skin naturally produces collagen which helps keep the wrinkles away, *BUT* the production of collagen starts to decline around the age of 25.
Don’t forget to moisturize your neck, chest and the top of your hands, too. Trust me!
Some of my personal favorites are:

Your hairstylist isn’t lying when they tell you how important a good shampoo and conditioner is for your hair. Professional products can be more costly, but it’s one expense you shouldn’t skimp on. The professional-grade stuff is more condensed — meaning you don’t need to use as much of it, and it will go a long way. Definitely ask your stylist for the proper recommendation for your hair since everyone’s hair is different.
Bonus: A good dry shampoo is a must! Here are a few products I recommend:
Drinking water is part of your beauty routine. I know it seems unimportant, but it’s such a vital tip. It’s easy to grab that Starbucks or flavored drink, but water is so good for not only your hair but your skin, too! Remember that what we put in our body comes out in our hair, skin, and nails. So, start your day with water instead of that latte.
(Note from the editor…I feel targeted )
Get your hair trimmed on a routine basis. If you can’t make it every 4-6 weeks or you’re letting it grow, in my opinion waiting 8 weeks is completely fine. But trimming it really is so important for the health of your hair. It’s not just some gimmick to get you back in the salon. Once your ends start to split, you really need to get it cut or it can split all the way up your hair shaft, causing breakage and damage to the hair.
Yep…your mom was right. It’s time to take care of the skin you’re in. Oftentimes, we rush out the door and don’t remember one of the most important things which is protecting our skin. In your 30s, you’ll definitely start to see damage from sun exposure. Be smart about covering your exposed skin, so you can keep your skin looking young and radiant!
Here are some great sunscreens to try:
